OUR STORY

Champions 4 Change: Why We Exist

Champions 4 Change Wellbeing CIC was created in response to the growing emotional, social, and behavioural challenges facing young people in our local communities. What began as boxing-led activity has grown into a trusted space where movement, mentoring, and emotional support work together to help young people build confidence, resilience, and positive routines.

Why We Began

Champions 4 Change began after we repeatedly saw young people struggling with confidence, emotional regulation, and a lack of positive routine — both in schools and in the community. Many of the young people we met were disengaged, carrying stress, frustration, or low self-belief that traditional services were not reaching.

We started with boxing-led activity because movement created a safe and familiar way to engage young people. But it quickly became clear that what they needed most was not just physical activity — they needed trusted adults, consistent mentoring, and space to talk, reflect, and rebuild confidence.

Over time, our work evolved into a youth mentoring and emotional wellbeing approach where physical activity supports deeper personal growth. Today, Champions 4 Change exists to meet young people where they are, helping them build resilience, self-worth, and positive direction for the future.

Community-Driven Mission

Shaped by Experience

Champions 4 Change has been shaped by what we have seen, heard, and learned directly from young people, families, schools, and community partners. Our approach is rooted in real-life experiences — working with young people who are navigating emotional challenges, behavioural difficulties, and a lack of consistent support.

By listening closely to young people and those around them, we have adapted our programmes to meet needs as they arise. Collaboration with local schools, families, and community organisations ensures our work remains relevant, trusted, and responsive. Safeguarding, trust, and positive role modelling sit at the heart of everything we do, guiding how we support young people to grow in confidence, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.

Building Confidence Through Movement

At C4CWB, we believe movement can be a powerful tool for building confidence, emotional resilience, and positive self-identity. Through structured physical activities — including boxing, games, and creative movement — young people are supported to release energy, build focus, and develop healthy coping strategies in a safe, supportive environment.

Boxing as a Tool for Confidence

Boxing is more than just a sport; it’s a way to channel energy positively. Our boxing sessions teach discipline, focus, and perseverance, which are essential skills for personal growth and self-assurance.

Movement for Emotional Wellbeing

Incorporating movement into our programs helps young people express themselves and manage stress. Through dance, yoga, and other activities, we create a supportive environment where emotional wellbeing can flourish.

Holistic Approach to Growth

Our holistic approach recognises that physical activity is one of many tools used to support overall development. By combining movement with mentoring, emotional support, and positive role modelling, we help young people feel a sense of belonging, achievement, and self-belief.

Looking Ahead

Our Vision for the Future

As we look to the future, C4CWB is committed to expanding our reach and impact. We envision a community where every young person feels supported and empowered to achieve their potential. By continuing to innovate and adapt our programs, we aim to provide lasting support to families and young people across South East London, ensuring that no one is left behind.
