Benefits of After School Boxing Sessions

COVID-19 lockdown has deprived children of recreation and stimulation from playing with their peers which is necessary for their healthy development.  The pandemic has had negative consequences for the physical and mental wellbeing of children.

One negative consequence of COVID-19 has been the increased risk of Type 2 diabetes for children living in disadvantaged communities where from poor diet and lack of recreation is endemic.

Recent reports have indicated that some children have become withdrawn and are refusing to leave home to socialise with peers since the easing of lockdown. These findings have been corroborated with evidence of a parallel increase in absenteeism at schools.

Our aim at Champions 4 Change WellBeing CIC is to use after school boxing to reverse the decline in physical fitness brought about by the pandemic by offering a safe environment for recreation that will help children to maintain healthy lifestyles, reconnect with their peers and develop a sense of community.
